(Pa-kyong Kathok Gon). Outside the city of Darjeeling, he founded the monastery of the "Spiritual Center of the Magnificent Ngayab Island"(Phuntsok Ngayab Choling) in 1962 and its retreat center the "Peak of Luminosity that Liberates All" (Kundrol Osel Tse). In Bhutan, at the
treasure site and concealed land called Lang-drak, Rinpoche restored
the retreat center of the "Definitely Secret Eternally Stable Place"
(Nge-sang Tak-ten Ling), founded by Longchenpa's son, Gyalse
Tulku Drakpa Ozer. In these and many other places, Rinpoche has established,
in isolated mountains or valleys, buildings and furnishings for Dharma
practitioners. Every year, Rinpoche will go to these various retreat
centers, where retreatants are completing three-years' programs, and
bestow profound pith instructions on the direct path to enlightenment
in one's body and lifetime, the luminous Great Perfection (Dzogchen).
Like this, Rinpoche is still working tirelessly
and ceaselessly, at the age of eighty-eight, for the benefits of all
sentient beings, and has thus nurtured the Holy Dharma and its propagation
during this Degenerate Age. People from all over the world flock
to see him in order to receive teachings and blessings from him, like
unending rivers flowing into the one Great Ocean of Wisdom.
Recently, just after the Tibetan New Year (Losar) of the new millennium, there were hundreds of people, coming all the way from the mountain ranges of the Himalayas, all gathered in tents near the temple in Yangleshod and asked for Rinpoche's initiation. They were determined not to go away, and so Rinpoche finally agreed to give them a long-life initiation. Men and women, whose previously cultivated merits, positive aspirations, and auspicious connections have ripened at the right time, thus received all the nectars and blessings of this great Master (see Photo 3.32). After the initiation, these mountainous people sang beautiful songs and danced, praising the great activities, honor and glory of this most exalted Master!
His excellent deeds of enlightened activity, a wide white parasol that spans all existence, have been medicine for the "life-force" of Buddhism. His kindness is inexpressible and incomparable! The continued presence of his Lotus Feet on the wide and high adamantine throne is like that of the brilliant sun shining in mid-day, dispelling all darkness of ignorance in this Degenerate Age! |
